An Entertaining and Convenient Way of Teaching

Hello, and welcome back to another post! In our lesson this week, we were supposed to record a podcast. Among three of the options that were given to us, me and my pair Ahmet Alper Aydoğdu (please also check out his blog!) have chosen to record a podcast about a short story which has been written and narrated by us.

About The Podcast's Plot:

We were required to use at least 5 words from a word list given to us. The story in general is about a criminal clown who enjoys killing people. It is brutal, isn't it? If it sounds interesting, I would suggest you to check it out. We tried to make the story funny because creating podcasts was a new concept to us.

Design Procedure:

As for the procedure, as soon as our instructor gave us the assignment and the word list which we required to use some words from, an idea suddenly emerged in my mind about the plot. Designing the plot was easy and entertaining. However, recording was a minor issue to us because of the lack of the environments where there is no echo and noise whatsoever. While recording we have utilized the website called vocaroo.com. The reason is that the tool was very simple. You just press a button and there you have it, without any registration, you have your recorded audio! As for the editing process, we have used the application called "capcut". Why? because of the features that the app offered to us. To put it simply, we had to use at least ten sound effects to enrich our podcast, and the app was really helpful because of its built-in sound effect library feature. Moreover, the tool was very accessible, meaning that it was free and was on almost all of the application stores.

My Opinions On The Use Of Podcast Assignments In English Classrooms:

As far as I am concerned, creating podcasts is entertaining. Again in one of my other blog posts, I have talked about the bloom's taxonomy and the synthesis cognitive level. It is the same story here. I would most likely implement this digital literacy type in my classrooms. Because it makes the learning more concrete and enjoyable. Furthermore, consuming podcasts are very convenient! You can perform some sort of multitasking. This can include listening to a podcast while doing daily tasks and such. A new way of teaching: Flipped language classroom approach!

Greetings everyone, and welcome back to another post! This week, we were required to create a video material based on the flipped classroom approach for our Current Issues in Education course. You may ask: What is a flipped classroom? I will answer your question later in this post! But first, I want to discuss the assignment itself. Virtual/Augmented Reality Has A Place in Language Classrooms!

  Greetings, everyone, and welcome back to another post! This week, we were required to create material that utilizes augmented reality for our Current Issues in Education course. Before discussing the design process, I want to discuss the assignment itself.
