Who Am I?


Hello, and welcome to my blog! My name is Emircan. I am a 19 year old student who currently studies in Marmara University. My department in particular focuses on English language teaching. Apart from my career, I really want to talk about my hobbies in general.




My Hobbies


Table Tennis:


One of my hobbies is playing table tennis. the intresting part with it is that I just wanted to try it in one of my typical high school days. Days passed and I started become better at table tennis. While most people think playing table tennis is difficult, my progress was so fast that even I was shocked. Now I am a member of the supervisory board of our schools table tenis club. For now, I do not think about becoming a professional player but who knows maybe I will change my mind one day! 


Fitness:


I know this became trendy in the last decade; nevertheless, I really love exercising particularly weight training. I started doing it because I thought that it would improve my life in any aspect. It is also very fun not only because of the tiredness I get, but also the conversations I have between the people in my local gym and my friends.


Participating in Communicative Activities:


This is very expected because I aim to become a teacher in the future. I love teaching people because of the progress I see in them. Also, I love talking and expressing my opinions in general. Apart from school, I barely participated in such activities. I had some debates among my friends, but mostly the activies were in school. However, I do not get into debates with everybody becuase most people unlike me talk but not listen. I think it is important to have such respect because it would become chaotic and pointless at the end.

A Corpus-based Lesson: Authentic Language Oppurtunity!

  Greetings everyone! I am back with another post. In our Current Issues in Teaching course this week, as groups, we were required to create a corpus-based worksheet as well as a lesson plan based on the ASSURE model, both of which I will explain later in this post. I grouped up with my friends Ahmet Alper Aydoğdu , Rabia Çimen , and Mihriban Çizme (feel free to check out their blogs as well!) for the completion of the assignment. At the end of this post you can see our lesson plan and worksheet! Design Process We were required to produce a lesson plan and a worksheet on corpus usage for our assignments. A new way of teaching: Flipped language classroom approach!

Greetings everyone, and welcome back to another post! This week, we were required to create a video material based on the flipped classroom approach for our Current Issues in Education course. You may ask: What is a flipped classroom? I will answer your question later in this post! But first, I want to discuss the assignment itself. We were required to be in pairs or groups, so once again, I paired up with  Ahmet Alper Aydoğdu (check out his blog as well!) to accomplish the given assignment. The Design Process: After we were assigned, two choices were given; we either had to create a grammar-based video material, which was said to be done in groups, or a vocabulary-based video material to be done in pairs. Virtual/Augmented Reality Has A Place in Language Classrooms!

  Greetings, everyone, and welcome back to another post! This week, we were required to create material that utilizes augmented reality for our Current Issues in Education course. Before discussing the design process, I want to discuss the assignment itself. We were required to be in groups, so once again, I grouped with Ahmet Alper Aydoğdu , Mihriban Çizme , and Rabia Çimen (check out their blogs as well!) to complete the assignment.
